NCCoE Director Cherilyn Pascoe discusses NIST's vision for cybersecurity at HIMSS 24 in Orlando

Early Monday morning, March 11, a good-sized crowd is attending the preconference forum on cybersecurity in healthcare at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, part of the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) global health conference. Cybersecurity is on the minds of a lot of providers and vendors, especially considering the recent ransomware attack on UnitedHealth Group’s Change Healthcare.

Cherilyn Pascoe, Director of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), leads the keynote address. In her address, she details the NIST frameworks: risk management, cybersecurity, privacy, cybersecurity workforce, Artificial Intelligence (AI) risk management, and secure software development.

Pascoe says NIST is currently testing various technologies to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities. She underscores the importance of collaboration with organizations across the healthcare and technology ecosystems to resolve cybersecurity challenges.
