How eClinicalWorks is Democratizing AI and Helping Healthcare Practices Stay Ahead in 2025
The year ahead is poised for an accelerated pace of innovation powered by AI in healthcare, and eClinicalWorks is leading the charge, helping practices of all sizes deliver exceptional patient care. This technology, once reserved for large hospitals and health systems, is now more affordable and accessible than ever before for independent practices, empowering them to become faster and leaner in their day-to-day operations. The technological shift is enabling independent practices to become more efficient, therefore putting the focus on high-quality, compassionate care.
We have entered the age of intelligence - routine, administrative tasks can now be automated with innovative AI tools that enable great time savings and cost reductions, so that healthcare professionals can focus on the highest standard of care for patients. eClinicalWorks is driving this new era of healthcare forward with new product launches and enhancements rolled out in the last year with further plans to expand as we enter 2025.
Integrating AI Across Healthcare Processes
At the 2024 eClinicalWorks and healow National User Conference held in October, we introduced a series of AI-powered products and product enhancements to streamline clinical workflows, improve practice efficiencies, and enhance patient engagement and patient care. One key product launch was healow Genie, a first-of-its-kind, fully EHR-integrated AI-powered contact center solution that connects patients with the information they need, when they need it. Genie offers self-service options in natural language to answer patients’ most frequently asked questions and uses innovative technology to manage appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and more. Incorporating this solution into medical practices will save providers time and energy, enabling them to focus on delivering optimal patient care and eliminating the need to outsource this work to after-hours care support.
At the conference, key enhancements were also announced to Sunoh.ai, a leader in AI medical scribe industry. Sunoh.ai is transforming patient visits and clinical documentation, allowing for greater provider-patient engagement while reducing provider burnout. The innovative AI scribe solution listens to appointments, summarizes notes, and provides actionable next steps in real time. This year, Sunoh.ai’s EHR-agnostic capabilities were improved by expanding the multilingual feature, which now supports conversations in three total languages, with more languages in development. Sunoh.ai also works across different specialties like vision, dental, rheumatology, and more and generates multimodule notes along with traditional SOAP notes.
Providers can now fully engage in appointments and let Sunoh.ai support the administrative work by drafting progress notes and charts for the physician to review and approve. At the same time, patients can enjoy fully present, high-quality care. eClinicalWorks providers can seamlessly gain access to Sunoh.ai by adopting the eClinicalWorks multidimensional EHR V12.
Additionally, eClinicalWorks announced the introduction of AI-supported value-based scorecards that measure providers’ progress in reaching their value-based care (VBC) goals. These scorecards combine quality, risk, coding, and cost of care in one singular panel, keeping providers informed about their progress and enabling them to better treat patients over the long term.
Helping All Healthcare Practices to Get Ahead of the Curve
The AI-powered innovations eClinicalWorks introduced will empower healthcare practices to be more competitive by reducing administrative burdens and streamlining clinical workflows, accelerating overall practice efficiency.
For example, Sunoh.ai saves providers substantial time completing progress notes and charts, enabling providers at small practices to see more patients and grow their patient base with the time-savings and reduced provider burnout. Additionally, healow Genie manages incoming patient calls and texts, including after-hours. This reduces the administrative burden for practice staff managing patient appointments and prescriptions and eliminates the need to outsource this work to a third party, saving practices money and boosting efficiency.
With AI for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), healthcare practices can streamline the end-to-end billing process internally, avoiding the need to hire third parties to handle RCM, which results in extra costs and increased staffing needs. These RCM innovations give practices independence in how they choose to fulfill this critical task, improving the process from beginning to end for patients and providers alike.
Looking Ahead to 2025
AI has transformed the healthcare industry at a rapid pace this year. Providers no longer need to worry about taking manual notes in real time; AI assistants can function as copilots by listening in to appointments and handling the administrative burden. It’s critical that practices of all sizes and specialties lean into AI technologies and embrace their functionalities to remain competitive in this ever-changing healthcare environment. Prioritizing patients and providing exceptional care is necessary, and to do this, AI tools must be adopted.
AI will soon become ingrained in every part of the healthcare process—from booking appointments to managing payment. Implementing these tools will enable providers to not only achieve a more fulfilling work-life balance but also engage more deeply with patients and provide a higher standard of care. Thanks to the integration of AI, patients feel heard, and compassion is brought back into the healthcare journey.
2024 brought AI to the forefront of healthcare and set the stage for 2025, where these AI-powered solutions will become more mainstream, comprehensive, and ingrained in every aspect of a practice’s operations. eClinicalWorks is ushering in next-generation healthcare and driving the democratization of AI by making its innovative solutions accessible, affordable, and tailored to healthcare providers across the country. Furthermore, by alleviating administrative burden and reducing physician burnout, the quality of patient care improves as a result.
