Siemens taps Summit Healthcare to deliver advanced solutions to health IT customers

Aug. 1, 2012

Braintree, Mass., July 31, 2012 — Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration
and automation, announced an agreement with Siemens Healthcare, Malvern, Pa., to expand
the reach of Summit’s solutions to Siemens’ enterprise health information system customers.
Siemens is now an authorized reseller of the Summit Healthcare technology.

With this agreement, Siemens customers can tap Summit Healthcare to address the need for
enhanced and secure business continuity solutions that can be easily implemented as part
of a full disaster recovery solution. As organizations strive for electronic medical record
implementation and adoption, Siemens sought to implement extraordinary system and data
access during planned and unplanned downtime. The Summit Downtime Reporting Solution
(DRS) helps ensure Siemens customers have access to key critical reports and patient
information at the desktop if various aspects of the system or network topology go down.

“As more hospitals move to fully digital operations, constant and quality patient care requires
uninterrupted access to health information and it is important that we can offer our customers a
solution that ensures these capabilities are not compromised as a result of downtime of almost
any aspect of their applications or infrastructure,” said David Hamilton, Senior Vice President of
Enterprise Services, Siemens Healthcare.

The Summit DRS solution supports Siemens customers using Soarian® Clinicals, INVISION®
Clinicals and other Siemens healthcare IT solutions. Siemens’ deployment of the Summit DRS
solution generates highly-secure, encryption-protected reports distributed at customer specified,
relevant intervals to local devices. Protected through HIPAA level encryption and authentication,
the care team can specify the critical data that they need to be able to view or print, enabling
hospital staff to continue operations during planned or unplanned downtime.

“As organizations bring a fully functional and robust electronic medical record to their
customers, Summit Healthcare has seen an increasing demand from hospitals to provide a
secure, cost effective business continuity solution to protect their IT investments. The reseller
agreement between Summit Healthcare and Siemens provides the opportunity to enhance

business continuity across Siemens installed base by offering the Summit Downtime Reporting
System,” said Ted Rossi, CEO, Summit Healthcare.
