2012 HIMSS Davies Award winner uses template-free EHR

Praxis EMR’s template-free charting helps Jeremy Bradley, M.D., FAAFP, customize care, improve medical quality and optimize clinical outcomes. And now it has helped the Owensboro, Ky., physician earn the prestigious Ambulatory HIMSS Davies Award for 2012.

The national award recognizes excellence in the use of electronic health records (EHRs) in a clinical setting. Dr. Bradley will receive his award at the 2013 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans on March 3-7, 2013. The awards program aims to promote EHR adoption through sharing information and lessons learned on implementation strategies and value of the EHR to improve patient care and outcomes.

Dr. Bradley provides primary care to over 9,000 active patients, with 50 percent of patients covered by Medicare, Medicaid or uninsured. His practice employs one physician, one nurse practitioner and one physician assistant.

In 2008, Dr. Bradley implemented a fully integrated EHR called Praxis EMR into the practice. He used the solution’s template-free technology to design his own customized practice guidelines and quality measures, earning him national recognition from Bridges to Excellence in diabetes, hypertension and physician office management. His clinic was the first ambulatory practice in Kentucky to receive Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Since implementing Praxis EMR, he says he has achieved a return on investment of over 200 percent, increased patient intake by 28 percent and integrated his EHR with local hospitals, labs and immunization registries.
