Philips launches telephoto ultrasound solution for smartphones and tablets
Philips has partnered with Innovative Imaging Technologies (IIT) to launch an integrated tele-ultrasound solution for smartphones and tablets. Lumify with Reacts extends Lumify, Philips app-based system for mobile point-of-care sonography, to access the Reacts collaboration platform developed by ITT. Live streaming and synchronous two-way audio-video communication capabilities bring ultrasound distance and support decision-making.
With Lumify an orientation sonography is possible everywhere and at any time. All hardware is inside the USB ultrasonic probe. The user downloads the free Lumify app from the Google Play Store to his Android smartphone or tablet, connects the probe to the mobile device via USB cable, launches the app and begins the investigation. The probe can be combined with any compatible smartphone or tablet.
Reacts (Remote Education, Augmented Communication, Training and Supervision) is a secure collaboration platform tailored to the specific needs of physicians and healthcare professionals. With Lumify Reacts, users can now exchange face-to-face in real-time, wherever they are.
The live ultrasound imaging capabilities and simultaneous audio-video telephony make remote collaboration possible, and by switching to the front camera, the user can also fetch the examination area with the probe’s position on the display get second opinions from the stream and make quick decisions directly at the scene of action—at the scene of the accident, during a home visit, in the office or at the hospital bed—to set the course for a targeted treatment. In addition, with Reacts Lumify is ideally suited for teaching in the digital age. The tele-ultrasound solution is now available in Germany.
