HIMSS Analytics, a division of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), has awarded Florida Hospital Carrollwood, an Adventist Health System facility, with Stage 7 honors on its Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) model. Stage 7 is the top honor or stage in association with EMRAM, which tracks EMR progress at hospitals and health systems.
“Florida Hospital Carrollwood is proud to be able to take the lead in patient safety through our use of EMRs in Hillsborough County,” Joe Johnson, Florida Hospital Carrollwood CEO, said in a statement. “This level of technology integration could not have taken place without the leadership and support of Adventist Health System, which has led the way in the adoption of EMR. With an ongoing commitment from our highly skilled physicians and staff, the use of electronic medical records enables us to continue in our efforts to provide the highest quality and safest care to our patients.”
According to HIMSS, Florida Hospital Carrollwood implemented an entirely paperless system of medical records. The hospital has made it possible to patient information with other providers via a secure standardized summary record and using a vast database of clinical information to improve care, patient safety and outcomes.
Florida Hospital Carrollwood, which is the 106th facility in the U.S. to receive Stage 7 honors, will receive recognition at the 2014 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 24-26, 2014, in Orlando, Fla.
