Explorys, the Cleveland Clinic-spinoff offering a cloud-based analytics platform and access to massive amounts of data, has added Trinity Health, the nation’s 10th-largest health system, to its network.

Based in Livonia, Mich., Trinity Health plans to implement the entire suite of Explorys’ cloud-based “big data” analytics solutions across its 47 acute-care hospitals, 432 outpatient facilities, 33 long-term care facilities, and numerous home health offices and hospice programs spanning 10 states.

Officials with Cleveland-based Explorys say that adding Trinity extends the company’s leadership position as the single largest clinical and financial data compilation in the world. The Explorys Network is already comprised of nearly 100 billion clinical, financial, and operational data facts spanning the continuum of care for a network of 14 integrated delivery systems, 200 hospitals, and over 100,000 providers, the company said.

Trinity will use the Explorys platform and applications to aggregate, analyze and benchmark its clinical, pharmaceutical, financial, and operational data across all of its hospitals and ambulatory facilities.

“When we began our search for a big data analytics platform, we had three important criteria in mind: functionality, usability, and support for turning real-time data into insights at the point of care,” said Kyle Johnson, Trinity’s vice president, clinical analytics and integration officer, in a prepared statement. “Explorys addressed each of these requirements and demonstrated how it could grow and adapt with us as we continue to innovate, continuously improve and stay agile in a dynamic healthcare landscape."
