Commure Adds Memora Health to Its Digital Health Portfolio
Health technology company Commure Inc. has acquired Memora Health, a digital care navigation platform. Commure said that Memora will strengthen its existing portfolio of patient engagement, clinical documentation, revenue cycle management, and real-time location system solutions.
San Francisco-based Memora, which helps health systems digitize and automate workflows, had received investment support led by General Catalyst and including participation by two health systems: New York-based Northwell Holdings, the venture investment arm of Northwell Health, and Chicago-based Endeavor Health.
It has worked with health systems such as New Jersey-based Virtua Health and with Utah-based Intermountain Health on a partnership that will initially focus on cancer care with plans to extend across additional clinical areas over the next several years.
Memora Health’s platform integrates with the electronic health record to automate clinicians' routine care tasks and streamline care management operations with the goal of removing unnecessary barriers and making it easier for patients to connect with their care teams.
In a February 2023 interview with Healthcare Innovation, Manav Sevak, co-founder and CEO of San Francisco-based Memora Health, said his company helps healthcare organizations digitize and automate a lot of workflows with two really big goals in mind: “The first is to unburden the care team and allow them to focus on things that are top of license and allow them to really home in on what they're trained to do. Second, how do you much more proactively guide and engage a patient in understanding all the different steps that they have to follow and give them a very high-touch experience in navigating their care? We work with over 50 healthcare organizations across the country, everything from large academic systems to large community-based health systems to federally qualified health centers.”
Backed by General Catalyst, HCA Healthcare, Sequoia Capital and others, Mountain View, Calif.-based Commure entered into an agreement in July to buy Augmedix Inc. (Nasdaq: AUGX), an ambient AI medical documentation and data solutions company, for approximately $139 million in equity value. Since merging with Athelas, Commure’s suite of solutions includes patient engagement, workflow automation, staff safety, at-home patient monitoring, billing solutions, and automated dictation.
"The acquisition of Memora Health is a significant step forward in our mission to simplify provider, patient, and administrator workflows," said Tanay Tandon, CEO of Commure, in a statement. “By combining Memora's intelligent care navigation with Commure's existing solutions, we can deliver a seamless experience for providers and care teams, and enhance patient support throughout their healthcare journey.”
