The State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) has launched the Hawaii Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive program to help healthcare providers adopt, implement, upgrade, or meaningfully use certified EHR technology.

Eligible professionals can receive up to $63,750 over six years, and eligible hospitals can receive more than $5,000,000 over four years.  The incentives are federally funded.

To participate in the Hawaii Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, eligible professionals and eligible hospitals must first register on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Registration & Attestation System (RAS), and then register on the Hawaii State Level Registry (SLR).  The CMS RAS is now available for registration, and the Hawaii SLR will be available for registration by October 15, 2013.  After registering on both sites, eligible professionals and eligible hospitals can begin the attestation process through the Hawaii SLR.

The Hawaii Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Provider Outreach Page (POP) also is now available and can be accessed at http://hi.arraincentive.com/.  This resource contains useful tools including an eligibility calculator, jump start page, program workbooks for eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and group administrators, frequently asked questions (FAQs), a link to the CMS RAS, and a link to the Hawaii SLR, once operational, according to the Hawaii DHS.
