The Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS), based out of Cook County, Ill., has announced deployment of a $3 million virtual data center for  more than two dozen of its facilities in the Chicago area. CCHHS chose Minneapolis-based Datalink to create the data center.

Datalink provided the infrastructure and acted as a strategic advisor. Its infrastructure solution integrated technologies from NetApp, Cisco, and VMware. Furthermore, along with the typical aim to improve efficiency and data recovery solutions, Datalink’s infrastructure also said it improved CCCHS’ backup operations with new infrastructure and software from Quantum and Symantec.

“Datalink provided the right-sized solution that fit our operational and financial needs,” Marlon Burns, chief technology officer of CCHHS, said in a statement. “Datalink demonstrated the expertise and experience to seamlessly and effectively implement our virtual data center. The private cloud solution delivers measurable data center efficiencies and enables our staff to quickly access the data they need to care for our patients.”

CCHHS serves more than 500,000 patients each year throughout Chicago and suburban Cook County. The John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, Provident Hospital, and Cook County Department of Public Health are among its many hospitals and clinics.
