University Hospitals Extends Relationship with Allscripts

March 30, 2016
Cleveland-based University Hospitals has extended its commitment to the Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager platform through 2024.

These days when a large academic medical center announces an expanded relationship with an electronic health record vendor, it is almost always with Epic or Cerner. But on March 29 Cleveland-based University Hospitals (UH) extended its commitment to the Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager platform through 2024.

UH has the largest network of primary care physicians, outpatient centers and hospitals across Northeast Ohio. The organization said it would expand its Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager platform in nine hospitals that currently use the platform to include additional Sunrise modules, including surgery, anesthesia, radiology and mobility, providing a single clinical platform and integrated workflows for all stages of acute patient care. Additionally, UH will install the Sunrise clinical platform in five hospitals it has newly acquired over recent years.

UH said it would increase its use of the Allscripts dbMotion interoperability and data aggregation solution to more effectively coordinate care across settings.

"The continued collaboration between Allscripts and University Hospitals to achieve an integrated Sunrise platform will help improve clinical outcomes for our patients," Jeffrey Sunshine, M.D., Ph.D., UH’s chief medical information officer, in a prepared statement. "Having a robust, single patient record across the continuum of our acute care will provide our physicians with the information they need to make crucial decisions regarding patient care."
