The CommonWell Health Alliance, a collaborative effort of health IT stakeholders to achieve interoperability and data liquidity between systems, has elected seven Board of Directors. They will govern and guide the organization for the coming year.
The Directors represent the major health IT vendors that joined CommonWell, back at the initial announcement in March and in July. They are Jeremy Delinsky, Board chairman & athenahealth representative, Rich Elmore, Board vice chairman & Allscripts representative, Bob Robke, Board treasurer & Cerner representative, Rod O'Reilly, Board secretary & McKesson representative, Scott Schneider, CPSI representative, Justin T. Barnes, Greenway representative, and Keith Laughman, Sunquest representative.
"CommonWell is a collaborative organization, set out to advance interoperability in health care. It's a formation of leaders in health IT, all collectively pooling experiences and knowledge to overcome the technology and process barriers of making data flow in health care once and for all," stated Delinsky, Chairman of CommonWell Health Alliance and CTO of athenahealth, Inc. "The Alliance has made tremendous progress on architecting what we believe will begin as a region-based data exchange pilot, and grow into a national solution of how health information can follow the patient across care settings and technology platforms. This solution would work out of the box, without expensive integration work, and with a great user-experience for providers. I'm proud and fortunate to have such disting uished colleagues and partners on the Board to achieve the goals set out by CommonWell."
The alliance, which formally incorporated as a trade association earlier this month, is committed to create a vendor-neutral platform to break down the technological and process barriers that currently inhibit effective health data exchange. It will aim to define and promote a national infrastructure with common platforms and policies.
