GE Healthcare has made another major analytics-based acquisition by picking up CHCA Computer Systems for an undisclosed price.
CHCA Computer Systems Inc., a Canadian company, has perating room (OR) management and analytics software. GE plans on using CHCA’s Opera software application in conjunction with its current OR and Perioperative software portfolio.
“More than ever, hospitals need systems that drive enterprise-wide efficiencies, reduce unnecessary costs and enable improved patient care,” Jan De Witte, President and CEO of GE Healthcare IT, said in a statement. “With this acquisition, we will now be able to offer more of our customers end-to-end workflow and decision support software solutions in high acuity care, an area in which hardware, software and consulting solutions that drive outcomes represent a tremendous opportunity for GE Healthcare.”
GE Healthcare, one of the top ranked industry vendors, appears to be on a bit of an analytics buying spree. It acquired API Healthcare, a Hartford, Wisc.-based provider of workforce management and business analytics software for healthcare providers, in January of this year.
The CHCA acquisition will close in the second quarter of 2014.
