IOD, HealthPort Agree to Merge

HealthPort, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based data security vendor, has merged with IOD, a Green Bay, Wisc.-based health information management and coding company.

HealthPort, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based data security vendor has merged with IOD, a Green Bay, Wisc.-based health information management and coding company.

The two health IT vendors—ranked 36th and 58th in the 2014 Healthcare Informatics 100 listing—would up the combined new company’s revenue to more than $450 million. The transaction will close in the second quarter of 2015. The name for the merged company has yet to be announced.

IOD and HealthPort said they’ll focus on audit management, government audit, clinical data coding and abstracting, document conversion services as well as consulting and training. They plan to continue catering existing customers for the two companies, while introducing new products.

“This merger combines the strengths and capabilities of two of the industry’s leaders, creating a wider selection of higher-quality clinical data services and a platform for growth,” Mike Labedz, President and CEO of HealthPort, said in a statement.
