Former Intermountain Healthcare CIO Marc Probst has joined ELLKAY, a health IT vendor specializing in data archive and interoperability solutions.
Probst will hold the same title, chief information officer, as he did at the Salt Lake City, Utah-based health system. Probst joins ELLKAY at a time in which the company is experiencing significant growth across multiple healthcare IT segments, according to officials. The company recently announced 30 percent year-over-year growth, with half of that growth occurring during Q2 2020, and also appointed two new chief innovation and strategy officers.
Probst has spent more than 30 years in healthcare IT, and earlier this year was recognized by two leading industry associations—the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Chicago-based Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)—as the 2019 John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year.
According to company officials, as the new CIO of the Elmwood Park, N.J.-based ELLKAY, “Probst will be a driving force in continuing ELLKAY's position as interoperability experts. His focus will be on growth, partnerships and strategic initiatives, thought leadership, and guiding innovation and ELLKAY's product roadmap.”
Probst said in a prepared statement, "I am proud and excited to join this experienced company who has demonstrated their dedication to providing innovative and interoperable solutions to hospitals and health systems, ambulatory practices, vendors, labs, and payer partners. ELLKAY's agility and commitment to delivering market-leading solutions is second to none and I am honored to be a part of it."
ELLKAY's CEO Kamal Patel, said, "Marc brings valuable industry experience and expands our strategic relationships in the industry. His passion for innovation and strategic eye will be instrumental in ELLKAY's mission to enable full interoperability in the healthcare industry."
Intermountain recently announced that Ryan Smith would be the health system’s new vice president and CIO. Smith, who previously worked for Intermountain for 19 years from 1994 to 2013 in information technology leadership roles, more recently served as senior vice president and CIO at Banner Health in Phoenix, from 2013 to 2018, and also at data analytics vendor Health Catalyst.
