‘Best in KLAS 2021’ Report Released, With Epic Once Again Up Top
The Utah-based KLAS Research has released in “Best in KLAS 2021” report, recognizing the top health IT vendor performers across a number of categories. For the 11th straight year, Epic Systems was named the top Overall Software Suite.
For the report, KLAS makes thousands of proactive calls each year to collect the research necessary. For each market segment in this report, the software and services solutions eligible to compete for Best in KLAS are ranked by their overall performance score (100-point scale), as rated in customer responses. KLAS then determines its final rankings from a combination of in-depth interviews and data points captured over a period of 12 months.
Highlights from this year’s report, which is comprised of numerous vendor winners across dozens of categories, include:
- Epic was again named the top Overall Software Suite, narrowly beating out MEDITECH Expanse to win the award for the 11th straight year. Cerner ranked third in this category, followed by CPSI and Allscripts.
- Epic was also named the top Overall Physician Practice Vendor, coming in several points ahead of athenahealth and NextGen Healthcare, who tied for second. Additionally, Epic won nine other Best in KLAS awards in various market segments, including the EMR-Centric Virtual Care Platform category.
- Galen Healthcare was named the top Overall IT Services Firm, specifically excelling in Health IT Implementation Leadership, Health IT Staffing and Technical Services.
- In 2020, The Chartis Group displaced Accenture as the top Overall Healthcare Management Consulting Firm, achieving extremely high customer satisfaction for their Financial Improvement Consulting engagements and also performing solidly in Strategy, Growth, and Consolidation Consulting.
- IBM Watson Health’s Merge PACS was named the Most Improved Software Product. Customer satisfaction with IBM Watson Health Merge PACS has increased 20 percent since last year among organizations with an annual image volume of over 300,000 studies. While there is still room for additional improvement overall, customers highlight improvements to the support, describing the staff as more knowledgeable than in the past, the report revealed.
- The Most Improved Physician Practice Product goes to athenahealth’s athenaPractice EMR. Midsize physician practices (11 to 75 physicians) that use athenahealth athenaPractice EMR have noticed improvements in the quality of athenahealth’s support and customer relationships.
- Innovaccer Inc. was recognized as the Best in KLAS vendor for Population Health Management. Innovaccer led the category with a score of 93.8, reflecting its stellar performance in meeting customer promises, providing proactive services, ensuring high quality implementations, providing new technology, and delivering overall customer satisfaction, according to the report.
- InterSystems was named the top Interoperability Platform vendor for its HealthShare Unified Care Record product. Health Catalyst (formerly Medicity) ranked second in the category.
- Medigate was selected as the 2021 Best in KLAS for Healthcare IoT Security. Medigate was rated as the top performing provider for its healthcare technology focus, responsiveness and close relationships with customers.
- Aunt Bertha, a solution that allows people in need to find free and reduced cost health and community-based services, was named the top vendor in the Social Determinants of Health Networks category.
