Dayton Physicians Commits to Clinical Excellence

Feb. 4, 2010

WALTHAM, Mass. (Feb. 2, 2010) — Dayton Physicians LLC, one of Ohio’s leading multi-specialty cancer treatment centers, has selected IntrinsiQ’s IntelliDose® clinical software to manage complex chemotherapy treatment, safely and efficiently.

Across the country, oncology practices face unprecedented uncertainty with ever-changing reimbursement policies, pressure to integrate with hospital networks and health reform mandates looming. To ensure Dayton Physicians continues to meet the needs of the Greater Dayton community amidst this environment, Dayton Physicians now has a system to consistently improve its quality of patient care and streamline practice procedures and operations.

Dayton Physicians chose IntelliDose, IntrinsiQ’s flagship chemotherapy management system, to create consistent clinical treatment pathways across its 12 medical oncologists and reach the highest levels of clinical and operational excellence. Supporting a collaborative practice-wide initiative to confer on the optimal course of care for every diagnosis, Dayton Physicians will use IntelliDose as an information resource to manage every aspect of cancer care: to support physicians’ treatment decisions, to administer and track complex chemotherapy regimens, and to capture every charge with rock-solid accuracy.

“Achieving common standards of care amongst the providers within our practice requires an intense commitment – and it would be nearly impossible without an oncology-specific clinical information system,” said Dr. Charles L. Bane, president of Dayton Physicians and a hematology and oncology specialist. “With this critical information institutionalized within IntelliDose, we ensure that every patient receives the treatment regimen that all 12 of our oncologists agree is optimal. And we’re steps ahead of future expectations that clinical pathways will control cost and quality of care.”

Dayton Physicians rigorously evaluated oncology management systems for their ability to manage the unique complexity of chemotherapy, and integrate with its electronic health record (EHR) system of choice, NextGen® EHR from NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc.

“We’re pleased to add Dayton Physicians to the growing list of communities that NextGen Healthcare and IntelliDose jointly support,” said Larry Erdman, specialty director of oncology at Horsham, Penn.-based NextGen Healthcare. “Integration with IntelliDose helps fulfill our commitment to empowering oncology practices with integrated technology and specialized services that meet their unique clinical and administrative needs.”

IntelliDose will provide dramatic operational efficiencies for the practice as well, by accurately capturing charges, drug administrations and waste, inventory records and nursing notes. With a lighter administrative load, physicians and nurses have more time to focus on giving their patients the most time and care possible.
