Physician Services Expands Electronic Health Record Deployment

Feb. 19, 2010

CHICAGO and DANBURY, CT – February 17, 2010 – Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) announced today that Danbury Office of Physician Services (DOPS), a physicians group based in Danbury, CT, will expand its deployment of the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) across its network from its current base of 51 physicians to all of its 238 employed physicians.

DOPS is a large, multi-specialty physician group serving residents of Western Connecticut and Southeastern New York. It is affiliated with Danbury Hospital, a 371-bed regional medical center and university teaching hospital associated with Yale University School of Medicine, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center, and the University of Vermont.

“Danbury Office of Physician Services has seen a significant improvement in efficiency since our initial implementation of the electronic health record,” said Ed Kushmerek, Executive Director of DOPS. “By expanding the deployment to our employed physicians, we are working towards our vision of building a regional healthcare system in which all providers have comprehensive, real-time electronic access to vital patient information. Our goal is to create a model where patients are safe and receive innovative, convenient, and coordinated medical care in their community.”

Danbury Hospital has utilized the Allscripts Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) since 2006 to improve the quality of patient care and streamline ED staff workflow.

“Danbury Office of Physician Services understands the value in offering an integrated Electronic Health Record solution to its physicians to help them provide more efficient healthcare to their patients at an affordable cost,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “Allscripts is pleased to partner with DOPS, in part because we share a belief that healthcare providers, equipped with the right information can provide the best quality patient care.”

The Allscripts Enterprise Electronic Health Record will continue to bring DOPS physicians access to patient information when and where they need it – at the hospital, in their offices or while on-call at home. Enterprise delivers robust tools for documentation and orders, a breakthrough in connectivity and preloaded connections to a range of devices, seamless support for pay-for-performance and quality initiatives, and an advanced user experience that lets physicians easily configure the system to their own specific needs while protecting the discrete data needed for research and analysis.

In addition to providing the core Electronic Health Record to its physicians, DOPS will provide view-only access to key parts of the Electronic Health Record for all employed caregivers in the system’s hospitals. View-only access helps ensure patient safety by providing hospital caregivers across the DOPS network access to medication histories, health issues, allergies and other critical information about patients admitted to the hospital by DOPS primary and specialty care groups.
