Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions, announced the successful implementation of ZynxOrder at NorthBay Healthcare in Solano County, California. Integrating evidence-based order sets and clinical decision support rules at the point of care will enable NorthBay Healthcare to comply with meaningful use of its electronic health record system (EHR) as established in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
NorthBay Healthcare chose Zynx Health in March 2005 for its reliable technology, comprehensive and unbiased content, experienced personnel, personalized customer support and ease of use for implementing evidence-based clinical decision support across the continuum of care. Leveraging Zynx Health’s online content management system and collaboration tool, NorthBay was able to improve work flow efficiencies and gain consensus among interdisciplinary teams to customize 250 evidence-based order sets, which were used in a web-based platform as a bridging strategy to computerized physician order entry (CPOE). Today, with Zynx Health’s proven integration with Cerner Millenium, NorthBay has had a successful go-live with evidence-based order sets within its CPOE, thus implementing standardized content and guidelines and establishing clinical decision support at the point of care.
“With evidence-based medicine the patient is getting the best practice care delivered at the point of care. This is what gives the best outcome; this is what gives patients shorter lengths of stay. This is what reduces the frequency of testing in certain areas. And this is what optimizes medical management,” said NorthBay Healthcare’s VP of Medical Affairs Donald Denmark, MD. “Zynx Health built the content for the evidence-based order sets and then NorthBay customized the design for treatment. Decisions are made quicker so that patients are stabilized and focused treatment is delivered in a shorter span of time.”
The evidence is made available via hyperlinks within the order sets and provides easy access to an online library of clinical research, national guidelines and quality measures.
“During these times when clinical decision support is so crucial for meaningful use of EHRs, NorthBay has already demonstrated improved work flow and patient care,” said Greg Dorn, MD, EVP and COO of Zynx Health. “We are pleased to see such success with NorthBay Healthcare and look forward to supporting them as they continue to improve the quality of care for their patients.”
