MADISON, N.J. – August 3, 2010 – Intermountain Healthcare, a Salt Lake City-based nonprofit health system, and MedPlus, the healthcare information technology subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics, have joined forces to give physicians an integrated view of patient medical records currently housed in disparate systems.
As demands increase for interoperability between regional healthcare organizations, Intermountain, a recognized leader in healthcare delivery, has announced that it will deploy ChartMaxx, an enterprise-wide electronic health record solution from MedPlus. As a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-compliant application, ChartMaxx can now acquire data from a central Intermountain information source, eliminating the need to duplicate data across the enterprise.
The partnership strengthens Intermountain Healthcare’s ability to coordinate delivery of patient care, and to share patient files and clinical test results without building traditional interfaces or duplicating patient data across multiple clinical information systems. MedPlus and Intermountain have agreed to jointly participate in co-development projects that will provide real time ChartMaxx access to data and documents stored in a variety of hospital systems. This approach enables Intermountain to continue with a “best of breed” strategy for applications, while also providing a single access point to the complete patient record.
