INFINITT Dental PACS implemented at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine

Oct. 10, 2011

Phillipsburg, NJ and Cleveland, OH- October 6, 2011 – One of the nation’s top dental schools, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, OH, has implemented INFINITT Dental PACS for use in dental research, patient care and student training. INFINITT North America, located in Phillipsburg, NJ, is a leading provider of image and information management technologies for healthcare.

The School of Dental Medicine was established in 1892 and now includes specialty training programs in Endodontics, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatrics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeries. In addition to its academic mission, CWRU provides dental health services for more than 70,000 patient visits a year.

Sorin Teich, Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Operations at CWRU School of Dental Medicine, said their decision to invest in a PACS was based on a desire to transition to a filmless and paperless workflow and to expose students, residents and faculty to digital imaging technology.

After looking at other Dental PACS systems, CWRU selected INFINITT’s Dental PACS solution for its web-based architecture and because INFINITT was willing to customize the system to support their integration requirements.

The system is now integrated with their EHR and supports Cone Beam CT (CBCT) and all dental modalities, including panorex and intraoral sensors. They chose to implement the system across all departments at once rather than incrementally so they could be completely electronic, have access to images from anywhere and retrieve older images easily for comparison.

INFINITT Dental PACS Features:
• Acquires images from panoramic or cephalometric devices, CBCT, intra-oral sensors and more.
• Supports DICOM Modality Work List and Storage Commitment Service.
• Conforms to ISO 3950 Tooth Codes.
• Easy to use for capturing and sending 2D images.
• Includes Full Mouth X-ray (FMX) display mode in comparison with a panoramic image.
• Provides always-online storage and real-time multi-level backup.
• Can be acquired through ASP/fee-per-study financing.
