Navicure announces Medicare 5010 milestone

Oct. 10, 2011

Atlanta, Ga., October 3, 2011—Navicure, a provider of automated, Web-based revenue cycle management (RCM) solutions for physician practices, today announced that by the end of the month it will be sending claims to all Medicare payers in HIPAA Version 5010 format. The Internet-based clearinghouse also announced that it will continue to accept 4010-formatted claims after the Jan. 1, 2012 transition deadline.

Navicure currently has several Medicare payers in production for transmitting 5010-formatted claims and has tested with more than 90 percent of its connections for compliance with the new HIPAA-mandated transaction standard. Navicure plans to have all Medicare payers in production by the end of October. This will be accomplished by adding between two and four different payers to its production list each day of the month. Additionally, Navicure is committed to having all payers in production by mid-December, before the January deadline for 5010 compliance.

“We’re pleased with the rapid progress we are making towards having all of our payers tested and in production for 5010 compliance. We’re also very comfortable with the January 1, 2012 deadline,” said Jim Denny, president and CEO. “For the last two years, we have had an internal team working towards reaching several 5010 readiness milestones – one of those essential milestones is having all of our Medicare payers in production by the end of October.”

In addition to working with payers to ensure 5010 compliance, Navicure is taking other steps to ensure all clients can successfully submit claims after the transition deadline. To accomplish this goal, Navicure unveiled its plan to continue accepting both Version 4010 and 5010 claims indefinitely. Navicure will proactively convert any 4010-formatted claim to 5010.

“With the client at the center of everything we do, we understand that some practices will not be quite ready for the 5010 transition in January. That’s what we’re here for. Our clients always have peace of mind that we’ll help them through continuing change without disruption. To this end we’re accepting 4010 claims as long as necessary and transferring them into 5010 claims on their behalf,” said Denny.
