CDW Healthcare and CalHIPSO partner to deliver complete EHR solutions to California physician practices

Dec. 13, 2011

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – December 12, 2011 – CDW Healthcare, a provider of technology solutions for healthcare, today announced a partnership with the California Health Information Partnership and Services Organization (CalHIPSO)  to deliver technology services and solutions in support of electronic health record (EHR) adoption in California.  Under the agreement, CDW Healthcare works directly with physician practices throughout the entire EHR implementation process, from choosing the application to post-implementation training and support.

CalHIPSO is a federally-designated Regional Extension Center (REC) supporting more than 6,000 clinical provider members as they navigate the complex process of EHR implementation.  In addition to broad training and workforce development programs, CalHIPSO assists providers in EHR selection and contracting.  CalHIPSO has negotiated agreements with seven EHR application providers and plans to begin a second round of vendor selection in early 2012.  CalHIPSO’s members have access to an online portal for the easy selection and acquisition of supporting IT infrastructure.

As part of the agreement, CDW Healthcare offers a broad array of supporting hardware and software through the portal.  Beyond this access to its sizeable product catalog, CDW Healthcare also delivers comprehensive services, tailored EHR infrastructure bundles and other technology solutions to CalHIPSO members.  Every physician practice has unique challenges, and CDW Healthcare works with each CalHIPSO member to deliver an effective, one-stop solution while remaining cost effective.

“EHR implementation is a fundamental business transformation that incorporates an IT solution in addition to thorough training, workflow adjustment and management changes,” said Bob Rossi, vice president of CDW Healthcare.  “CDW Healthcare, in partnership with CalHIPSO, is focused on making the technology the easiest and highest-value component of going digital.”

A nationwide survey of 200 physician practices, CDW Healthcare’s Physician Practice EHR Price Tag, revealed in-depth data about what practices can do to ensure low-cost, effective adoption.  According to that study, the speed with which a practice successfully implements an EHR and adapts to the new workflow is critical in minimizing adoption costs.  By providing a comprehensive hardware, software and service solution, CDW Healthcare and CalHIPSO EHR vendor partners can help physician practices to achieve the best return on EHR investments.

“Our members face an unprecedented challenge in the delivery of patient care,” said Speranza Avram, executive director, CalHIPSO.  “They need no-nonsense EHR solutions that meet the rigorous demands of the clinical environment and that are simple and straightforward to implement.  CDW Healthcare understands physician practice challenges and delivers the right technology expertise to support our members in achieving Stage One Meaningful Use.”

CalHIPSO members that are also enrolled in Council Connections can access CDW Healthcare solutions immediately through the CalHIPSO website.  For more information on joining CalHIPSO or accessing services, please call 888-589-4897.
