HMT editor named to healthcare IT influencers list

Jan. 3, 2013

A couple of weeks ago, I was delighted to learn that Schwartz MSL had included me on its list of the top 25 healthcare IT reporters in the country. Also on the list were representatives from several of our healthcare IT trade magazine competitors, as well as respected news publications such as the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Congratulations to my 24 list mates; and, at the risk of sounding like a bad Grammy winner, “It’s an honor just to be in the company of these individuals!”

As a follow-up, I was asked some serious and not-so-serious questions about my history and the business of healthcare IT:

Full name:
Phillip James Colpas

How long have you been writing about the healthcare IT industry?
About three-and-a-half years. Prior to that, my career was spent primarily in the newspaper business.

Who do you think is the hottest company to hit the healthcare IT market in the last year?
New company: I like Caradigm; this partnership between Microsoft and GE Healthcare is interested in solving healthcare's greatest challenges. And Microsoft boss Bill Gates has already demonstrated a penchant for engaging in philanthropic activity concerning world health issues.

What's your favorite thing to do on Saturday?!
Play a gig with my blues band, King Louie. I've been a “weekend warrior” guitarist/bandleader/vocalist for about 20 years.

With about 200 clients and 175 employees in Boston (headquarters), London, San Francisco and Stockholm, Schwartz Communications has been helping technology and healthcare companies “articulate compelling stories” since 1990.
