Marlborough, MA (February 19, 2013) – Physicians Interactive (PI), a leading provider of online and mobile clinical resources and solutions for healthcare professionals (HCPs), and Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of ambulatory care solutions including fully integrated electronic health records (EHR), are collaborating to deliver eCoupon to users of Greenway's PrimeSUITE solution.
eCoupon is one of the industry's first automated pharmaceutical voucher and coupon distribution solution for clinicians who use electronic prescribing (ePrescribing) software. The partnership also provides an innovative, immediate opportunity to better connect life sciences companies with physicians and patients in ways that help all meet the growing demand for medication cost savings.
The incorporation of eCoupon into Greenway's award-winning PrimeSUITE software will enable Greenway to help clinicians increase the value of each patient interaction, improve the quality of care, and help patients cope with the rising cost of treatment through direct access to medication cost savings and support programs.
Integration of eCoupon within PrimeSUITE has begun and will be deployed in the near future. The agreement will help meet a growing demand from clinicians to integrate patient-benefit resources within their ePrescribing workflow. In 2011, the number of electronic prescriptions climbed into the hundreds of millions, while the number of physicians writing prescriptions electronically has more than tripled in only two years. eCoupon will allow PrimeSUITE users to help patients with coupon and copay opportunities without having to leave the system.
The combined eCoupon and PrimeSUITE solutions will help address the lack of patient adherence to appropriately filling and taking their medication, a large and costly problem in the United States that adds an estimated $100 billion in healthcare spending annually. Access to vouchers and other tools within a prescriber's workflow can help to drive this cost down by improving first-fill medication adherence and creating an opportunity for higher adherence rates in the future.
The addition of Greenway also expands PI's premier network of life sciences and EHR partners, which includes other industry leaders such as Allscripts and McKesson. Also, the partnership adds Greenway users to PI's network of more than 900,000 U.S.- based physicians, nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
“Greenway is a recognized leader in delivering integrated, advanced ambulatory IT solutions that help providers engage and empower healthcare consumers and deliver more efficient and effective care,” said Sam Holliday, Greenway Vice President of PrimeRESEARCH. “ePrescribing has been shown to improve medication adherence rates. Adding eCoupon to PrimeSUITE's innovative features will help ensure that patients fill their prescriptions and should lead to improved health outcomes.”
“Greenway is an innovative and fast-growing healthcare leader, and we are proud and excited to announce this collaboration with them,” said Donato Tramuto, CEO and Vice Chairman of PI. “The ability to seamlessly integrate eCoupon into the PrimeSUITE workflow will help both Greenway and PI efficiently reduce costs for patients, improve compliance with treatment, strengthen their bond to providers, and ultimately impact outcomes.”
eCoupon is a core component of PI's innovative EHR Toolkit, a suite of physician tools built into the prescriber workflow for maximum convenience and uptake. The Toolkit is a milestone in delivering solutions at the point-of-care to address ongoing challenges such as patient medication adherence.
