Gartner names Phytel one of its “Cool Vendors for Healthcare Providers, 2013”

April 25, 2013

Dallas, April 25, 2013 – Phytel, a leader in automated, provider-led population health improvement, today announced it has been named a “Cool Vendor” in the “Cool Vendors in Healthcare Providers, 2013” report by Gartner, Inc. Phytel is one of only a few companies included in the report, which recognizes technologies that offer CIOs, CMIOs and other healthcare IT leaders an innovative way to respond to the rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

Gartner, widely recognized as one of the world's leading information technology research and advisory companies, profiled five companies, including Phytel. According to the report, “Each of this year's Cool Vendors for CIOs, CMIOs and healthcare IT leaders offers an innovative way to respond to the stress that arises from wholesale changes in healthcare systems.”

Phytel's platform for population health improvement aggregates source data into a population-wide registry that enables organizations to implement quality-improvement programs. The solution includes functionality that enables the care management processes to scale and enhance patient engagement across the board. As a result, Phytel clients can more effectively support emerging care delivery models. The technology stratifies populations by health risk and automates personalized care interventions for members of a population at any level of risk.

“We believe our inclusion in Gartner's report validates our strong position within population health management,” said Steve Schelhammer, CEO of Phytel. “With value-based care driving rapid change in the industry, providers will need proven solutions to help them successfully manage quality and proactively improve chronic and preventive care across their populations. Phytel equips healthcare organizations and providers with a scalable product suite designed to accomplish that.”

Phytel has been recognized nationally for helping healthcare organizations drive patient-centered, high-quality care.  In March, the company announced that three of its solutions achieved prevalidation status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for autocredit toward 2011 patient-centered medical home (PCMH) criteria. A year previously, NCQA made Phytel the first non-EHR vendor-and only the second company at the time-whose physician practice clients could automatically meet certain NCQA requirements for recognition as a PCMH.
