HIMSS Analytics revalidated 441 Novant Health clinics, located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia with Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.
Developed in 2011, the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model (EMRAM) provides a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Logic. Stage 7 represents the highest level of EMR adoption and indicates a health system’s advanced electronic patient record environment.
In mid-April 2015, HIMSS Analytics introduced its revalidation program to ensure the EMRAM continues to reflect industry best practices so that Stage 7 organizations reflect the optimal use and sharing of patient data toward improved healthcare quality, safety, and operational efficiencies. To revalidate, Stage 7 organizations must complete the process in the year between the second year anniversary of the original validation and its expiration.
As of the fourth quarter 2015, only 7.89 percent of the more than 36,000 U.S. ambulatory clinics in the HIMSS Analytics Logic received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award.
