June 27, 2016

The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) awarded its highest chapter honor—the Robert M. Shelton Award—to the Rochester Regional Chapter during HFMA’s annual conference in Las Vegas on Monday. The award is given annually in recognition of five years of sustained excellence.

The Rochester Regional Chapter has provided exemplary service, especially in terms of breadth and depth of education,” said HFMA Chair Mary Mirabelli, FHFMA. “We congratulate Rochester Regional on sustaining high performance levels not only in education but also in overall member satisfaction.”

Mirabelli presented the award to Rochester Regional Chapter past presidents Geoffrey Bernhardt; Paula Tinch, CPA, PAHM; Christopher Harris, FHFMA, CPA; and Alicia Dockrell, CHFP; who served two terms.

Rochester Regional Chapter sustained success over the five-year period by earning a total of 10 awards in education, certification, and membership. They also won three Henry C. Hottum Awards for educational performance improvement. In addition, they maintained an average of 19.3 education hours per member for the past five years, and an average of 17.4 percent of members were certified. They also earned a total of 20 Yerger awards (single and multiple-chapter entries included) for the past five years.

The Rochester Regional Chapter has 240 members.

Winners of the Shelton Award demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas tracked by HFMA, including quality and variety in educational programs, growth in membership, and other areas. The winner is selected by a five-member committee appointed each year by the HFMA Chair.
