Orlando, Fla.-based Craneware, Inc., a supplier of chargemaster management and revenue-cycle software solutions, has introduced the Physician Management Toolkit.
The product, according to the company, is designed for organizations that manage billing for physician groups to provide assistance with managing coding, conversion-factor and pricing for physician fee schedules.
Craneware says that in addition to helping organizations stay abreast of regulation changes that may impact physician billing, its product provides reference material for regulatory updates and changes, including coding changes, edits generated by Medicare's Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), and medical-necessity local and national coverage determinations.

Royal Philips of Andover, Mass., has rolled out its ProScribe wireless thin-client display, which enables physicians and nurses to access patient data to write prescriptions for medications or diagnostic tests.Philips says the system has a 12.1-inch LCD-XGA-touch screen display, an emulated keyboard and integrated wireless LAN driver, which allows the display to be operated without any other external devices. Server access on the ProScribe is provided by one of three pre-installed thin clients: Citrix ICA, Microsoft RDP or Internet Explorer.
The display has a 1GHz VIA-based x86 processor and a Microsoft Windows XP embedded operating system.

King of Prussia, Pa.-headquartered Devon IT Inc., has introduced its server-based SafeBook notebook.
The machine runs on Windows XP Embedded (XPe), features 512MB of memory and a 6-hour-battery. The product offers remote screen shadowing, integrated 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 802.11b/g wireless connectivity and lock-down control for its three USB drives.

The War on Spam
Toronto-based BorderWare Technologies, a vendor of messaging security, privacy and compliance solutions, has introduced its new patent-pending Intercept Image Analysis technology specifically designed to detect and block image spam.
According to BorderWare Technologies, Intercept Image Analysis technology is able to learn about and defend new image spam campaigns by analyzing image attachments found within an email message, deriving an accurate characterization of the message and distinguishing between “good” and “bad” e-mails.
