HCI'S ONLINE EXECUTIVE INTERVIEWS SERIES
One-on-One with Maimonides Medical Center CIO Walter Fahey
Maimonides Medical Center is among the largest independent teaching hospitals in the nation, training over 450 medical and surgical residents annually. Widely recognized for its achievements in medical technology, Maimonides has 705 beds and over 70 subspecialty programs. Recently, HCI Editor-in-Chief Anthony Guerra spoke with Walter Fahey about his long list of projects, and what it takes to be an effective CIO in today's HITECH-fueled world.
Mercy Medical Center is a 445-bed regional hospital located in eastern Iowa. After surviving flooding in 2008, Jeff Cash had to figure out how his organization was going to survive a move to CPOE and electronic documentation with his Medtech Magic system. Cash turned to PatientKeeper as a way to enhance Meditech's front-end user interface while keeping his core system intact. Anthony Guerra had a chance to talk with Cash about these and other issues.
As EHR certification slowly rolls along, CCHIT recently opened up its latest iteration of testing to the public. The two new offerings are “CCHIT 2011 Comprehensive” Certification and Preliminary ARRA 2011 Certification. To drill down on the distinction between these two programs, and to learn more about CCHIT's progress overall, Anthony Guerra talked with CCHIT Chair Mark Leavitt.
One-on-One with Baptist Health SVP & CIO Roland Garcia
Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health is one of the leading providers of healthcare in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. The organization provides its acute services through a network that includes four medical centers, the area's only children's hospital and a number of outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services. Anthony Guerra recently had a chance to talk with Roland Garcia about all the projects in his pipeline.
