Earlier this month, the Washington, D.C.-based National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) released the report, "Secrets of HIE Success Revealed: Lessons from the Leaders," providing case studies on 12 successful and sustainable health information exchanges (HIEs) nationwide. The HIEs represent a diverse group of organizations, including for-profit entities, non-profit entities, and a government agency."Secrets of HIE Success Revealed" was developed based on interviews with senior executives from each of the 12 HIEs. These organizations were chosen to be profiled based on their innovative strategies and business models, the value and impact they are having in their respective communities, and their maturity in achieving sustainability. In this podcast, CEO Kate Berry speaks with HCI Associate Editor Jennifer Prestigiacomo about what commonalities the 12 profiled HIEs share, including new revenue streams they are pursuing, as well as how several of them got payer participation.
