Lucky CIOs. The Upside of the Downturn

I am so sick of hearing about bad news, hospital closings, layoffs and projects put on hold. There may be a silver lining for CIOS, though. Thanks

I am so sick of hearing about bad news, hospital closings, layoffs and projects put on hold.

There may be a silver lining for CIOS, though. Thanks to Vince Ciotti for spilling the beans on how CIOs are in the enviable position today of being able to negotiate the best deals for new IT because of it.

If I was a CIO, I would sure love to read an article on this topic. But that’s just me. Is anybody else out there interested in this? I’m thinking of writing a story on the topic and wonder if any CIOs have similar thoughts, or have an experience to share about why this is a great time to cut deals—and how they did it, or will.

I'm not sure where I’m going with this, so I’m asking you all for your advice. Please post comment if you if you think this is a cool topic and I should cover it..

And hey, if you are a vendor and have a story on how you’re making deals you never thought you would, I’m listening too.
