Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Maimonides Medical Center is using Basking Ridge, N.J.’s Verizon Connected Health Care Solutions to conduct a comprehensive review of its network infrastructure in order to address HIPAA requirements.
IT professionals from Verizon are reviewing Maimonides’ wired and wireless network architecture to help address HIPAA security requirements, according to the company. Additionally, specialized testing is being conducted on the hospital’s wireless network to help protect against unauthorized access that could compromise patient and other critical data.
Maimonides Medical Center is a non-profit, non-sectarian hospital with 705 beds. In 2008, the Medical Center serviced nearly 100,000 emergency room visits, received more than 240,000 ambulatory care visits, and delivered more than 7,200 babies.
