Summa Physicians, Inc. (SPI), an entity of the six-hospital Summa Health System (Akron, Ohio), is rolling out Westborough, Mass.-based eClinicalWorks’ EMR to its 223 physicians serving 33 specialties.

Through the implementation, SPI hopes to streamline processes and promote patient safety while reducing costs, says the company. The multispecialty group also hopes to leverage the technology to position itself to take advantage of ARRA reimbursements, it says.

Summa Health System, which has been a client of eClinicalWorks since 2006, is one of the largest integrated delivery systems in Ohio. In addition to its six campuses, the 2,060-bed network includes community health centers, a health plan, a physician-hospital organization, a multi-specialty physician organization, and multiple foundations.
