Elsevier, an Amsterdam-headquartered publisher of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, has announced the acquisition of NurseSquared, an electronic health record (EHR) training product.

Elsevier says the NurseSquared product teaches students how to properly document using a simulated EHR. Features include hospital-like electronic documentation, care plan construction and competency assessment. The company says the training tool will allow it to offer a more complete curriculum solution, including an EHR training tool, to academic customers.

The acquisition is effective immediately and terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
