In an effort to implement CPOE, Ann Arbor, Mich.-based University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) has deployed Atlanta-based Eclipsys Corp.’s Sunrise Acute Care.
The company says UMHS will use the product across its entire 913-bed inpatient delivery system for quick access to standardized order sets and related tools. Using the Sunrise product, Eclipsys says clinicians can order tests, procedures, medications and nutrition services. In addition, it claims the product provides access to patient allergies, potential drug interactions and other information.UMHS includes three hospitals (University Hospital, founded in 1869 as the first university-owned hospital in the United States, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, and Women's Hospital), approximately 30 health centers and 120 outpatient clinics, the U-M Medical School and its Faculty Group Practice, the U-M School of Nursing and the Michigan Health Corp.
