The Chicago-based Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) will offer online seminars, beginning in December, to help guide ambulatory and inpatient EHR product certification applicants through the process.

Using already available certification materials, CCHIT staff will walk applicants through the testing process, the organization states. The 2007 test scripts will be discussed, including new interoperability, functionality and security criteria for ambulatory certification. In addition, applicants for inpatient product certification will have an opportunity to examine criteria for CPOE and eMAR capabilities.

The first six-hour, three-part Web seminar will be held on Dec. 17, 18, and 19. Applicants may register online from Nov. 27 through Dec. 12. Beginning Nov. 21 through Dec. 22, the public is invited to comment and provide feedback on the first draft of certification criteria for the 2008 certification year. Criteria for review are available in the following areas: ambulatory, inpatient, network, cardiovascular medicine, child health and emergency department.
