West China Hospital in Shanghai has signed a seven-year contract with Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics to develop new medical imaging procedures for the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases, cancer and mental disorders.

The agreement will include eight new research projects involving medical imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, PET and single photon emission computed tomography.

An affiliate of the Sichuan University in Chengdu, West China Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in China, housing 5,000 beds and 2 million patients.
