Saint Barnabas Health Care System of West Orange, N.J. has purchased a three-year Sentri7 subscription for all six of its member hospitals from Pharmacy OneSource of Bellevue, Wash., combining laboratory, pharmacy and patient data.
With Sentri7, clinicians have a single point of access to lab results, medication records and patient demographics, data that currently resides in different systems, the company says. In addition, it claims clinicians can write rules against the data to identify and flag at-risk patients.
According to Pharmacy OneSource, the hospital system will also use its software to help avoid hospital-associated infections. The product can compare patients who are infected with a certain strain of bacteria to their currently-prescribed antibiotic to make sure they are getting the most effective drug, and can flag patients who acquire a resistant strain like MRSA, the company touts.
The Saint Barnabas Health Care System is New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare delivery system, and provides treatment and services for more than 2 million patients annually.
