SwedishAmerican Health System, (Rockford, Ill.) signed a deal with Mt. Laurel, N.J.-based MedQuist for transcription outsourcing and speech recognition editing services to the system’s hospital and medical center.
The company says the contract also includes acquisition of MedQuist’s SpeechQ for Radiology, a real-time interactive speech recognition system designed to handle radiology documentation at both SwedishAmerican Hospital and the affiliated FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Ill.
The health system also signed a professional services agreement under which MedQuist will perform workflow and dictation process analysis to recommend optimization strategies and “best practices” implementation, it adds.
Headquartered in Rockford, Ill., SwedishAmerican Health System serves 12 counties in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Care is provided through a 357-bed, full-service, non-profit teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine; a medical center offering services to Belvidere and Boone, Western McHenry, and Northern DeKalb Counties; a network of 14 primary care and multi-specialty clinics; and a home health care agency.
