Howard County General Hospital a 219-bed facility based in Columbia, Md., has installed Woodbridge, Va.-based MDA TechnologiesTransQuest, a real-time wireless patient transport dispatch system.

According to the company, MDA TransQuest optimizes patient flow by dispatching, managing and tracking patient transportation within hospitals.

Delivered through PDAs, the solution provides timely information about transport requests and sets priorities based on origin, destination, STAT requests and proximity of the last drop-off point. Relevant data is accessed through a hospital’s intranet and then delivered to transporters’ PDAs through the hospital’s wireless network, says the company.

A non-for-profit facility, Howard County General is a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (Baltimore).
