Anthony Peter Catinella MD, MPH, has been promoted to chief medical information officer at Tucson, Ariz.-based University Physicians Healthcare. He will be charged with the use and development of information technology systems to store and access medical information in the clinical environment at all UPH hospitals and clinics.
Dr. Catinella previously served as the medical director and vice-head of the family medicine clinic at the UPH Hospital campus. He is also clinical associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UA College of Medicine. He earned his medical degree at the UA in 1981 and a master of public health degree from the University of South Florida in 1995.
UPH is a nonprofit corporation created in 1985 as the medical practice of the physicians of the UA College of Medicine. Together, UPH, the University of Arizona, UPH Hospital and University Medical Center work to care for patients, educate medical students, train young physicians and conduct clinical research.
