Lake Charles Memorial Hospital has begun a three-year upgrade and transition of its business and clinical information systems to San Francisco-based McKesson Provider Technologies’ end-to-end system.
When completed, the paperless system will enable the health information of patients who visit an affiliate physician or service areas of the hospital to be accessible from any computer in the system, including the emergency room, says the company. The initial phase of the implementation, which will focus on document imaging, is scheduled to begin in early 2009 and will last approximately 9 to 12 months.
Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is a locally owned, not-for-profit healthcare system consisting of a 324-bed facility on Oak Park Boulevard, a 38-bed Memorial Hospital for Women in south Lake Charles, and an acute long-term care facility at Extended Care of Southwest Louisiana.
