New Brunswick, N.J.-based Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) has rolled out Atlanta-based Eclipsys Corporation’s Sunrise Clinical Manager’s integrated modules Sunrise Acute Care and its integrated pharmacy information solution, Sunrise Pharmacy.

Once an order is placed in the Eclipsys CPOE system, Sunrise Pharmacy enables RWJUH’s pharmacists to electronically review and verify orders to increase medication dispensing safety. In addition, the company touts the system will help RWJUH avoid medication errors by offering advanced clinical decision support for checking medication dosages and potential contraindications.

RWJUH is a 600-bed academic medical center and the principal hospital of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. It is one of three hospitals nationwide to offer the world’s first self-contained implantable artificial heart.
