Eric Yablonka, vice president and CIO at the University of Chicago Medical Center, has received the CHIME/HIMSS John E. Gall, Jr. CIO of the Year Award at the annual Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans.

Announced at the 2007 Spring Forum and co-sponsored by College of Healthcare Information Management Executives' (CHIME) and HIMSS, the award recognizes IT executives for significant contributions to their organization and their profession.

Among his accomplishments, Yablonka's IT-related credits include opening a new, technology-rich children's hospital, implementation of enterprise resource planning and supply chain systems, work with clinical and diagnostic imaging systems and a state-of-the-art wireless infrastructure.
