Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has deployed a wireless network from San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco to be used by its 40,000 doctors, nurses and staff members across its three United States-based campuses.
In addition, according to Cisco, Mayo will begin evaluating the company’s 802.11n Aironet 1250 Series Access Points to enable a broader set of new mobility applications across its facilities. Cisco also announced that Mayo Clinic received its five millionth Aironet access point, which began shipping in 2000.
The company says Mayo has also connected a variety of medical devices and equipment to the wireless LAN, including 2,000 infusion pumps, 300 patient-controlled analgesia pumps and 100 pulse oximeters that are used to monitor patient heart rates and breathing.
