Ascom Wireless Solutions (Göteborg, Sweden) and Ekahau Inc. (Helsinki, Finland) are collaborating on a new Wi-Fi positioning solution that will combine Ekahau’s location-based services with a VoWi-Fi handset i75 from Ascom to create a reliable means of locating patients in emergency situations, say the companies.
According to the companies, the solution does not require any additional infrastructure components, such as additional readers, antennas or chokepoints. The open application programmer’s interface provides access to the real-time location information by any software application, and enables location-based services, workflow improvement and asset tracking, they tout.
