    Boston-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) has deployed Portico Systems' NPI Solution in support of compliance with the National Provider Identifier (NPI) as mandated by HIPAA.

    According to Portico, its solution is comprised of NPI Registrar, an NPI collection, verification and workflow application; NPI Gateway, a crosswalk integration tool; NPI Provider, a support application for provider operations staff; and Portico Foundation, a services-oriented crosswalk data repository.

    Portico NPI minimizesthe impact of NPI conversion on core legacy systems, says the Conshohocken, Pa.-based company.
