The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), a not-for-profit Chicago-based certification organization, has published its approved criteria for certification of inpatient (hospital-based) electronic health record (EHR) products.

According to CCHIT, it will begin taking applications for certification Aug. 1. The final certification criteria, test scripts and associated program policy documents are posted on the Commission's Web site.

In addition, CCHIT is seeking qualified candidates to serve as commissioners for a two-year term beginning in October. This year, CCHIT says six commission positions are open, one from each of the following stakeholder groups: healthcare consumer organizations; health information exchanges; informatics experts; public health agencies; safety net providers; and ambulatory care providers.
