Though respondents reported improved patient throughput and some workflow improvements from adopting digital mammography IT, not all providers experienced the significant enhancement to overall efficiency and revenues that vendors promise, KLAS says in its initial digital mammography report.

However, KLAS did find that nearly all providers participating in the study reported improvement in their effectiveness and diagnostic screenings.

Overall, KLAS says study participants believe the investment in digital mammography is worth the effort. Vendors in the report are GE, Hologic and Siemens, with preliminary user feedback from Fuji.
